The first time I remember reading about Ancient Greece is when I read Hour of the Olympics, a Magic Tree House series by Mary Pope Osborne. I was 7, and back then I loved the series so much that I once wrote a letter to the author :)
I was really intrigued by Ancient Greece when I started reading Greek Mythology when I was 10. Ever since, I went to as many museums and art museums that had to do with Ancient Greece, read and reread the simplified versions of the Iliad and the Odyssey, and started planning my dream vacation in Greece.
And as you can see, I finally got that dream come true.
Due to climate changes, we couldn't ride the ferry to Greece from Turkey, and rode the plane the next day instead. The change of plan had its pros and cons, but one HUGE con was that we were chased by time the whole time we were at Greece, so we couldn't look around properly. We just got the gist of the acropolis. boo. But nevertheless, the lack of time we had definitely did not take away the magic of Greece.
